Of their dreams,

Running away from nightmares

To their refuge of real war.

Here’s to all of the kids

Whose parents are gone

Whose homes are perished

Whose laughs still ring

As the advertised truth.

Here’s to all of the kids like me

And my friends:

Given, only to be shot

In fatal organs by bullets or cameras;

It’s all the same in the end.

Here’s to all of the kids

Who are still alive

And plan to keep on going

Despite all, and in spite of all…

…that is terrorizing them at night.

Here’s to the sad kids.
